Everything's Coming Up Must Come Down
Chicago Art Department, Chicago, IL
October 9, 2015
Free Air (Amy Sinclair and Regin Igloria) created a performance as part of the exhibition Per_Form, curated by Mike Nourse for the Chicago Art Department.
Free Air exhaled their breaths consistently into plastic tubing that fed into a glass jar of ink and soap, creating a fountain of bubbles that grew, escalated, and dissipated in an ongoing cycle of reflective, random forms.
This breathing regimen was performed for the duration of the 4-hour exhibition reception, including moments of sitting up, standing, manipulating the tubes with body parts, and exchanging non-vocal prompts to shift positions. At the end of the performance, the articles of clothing were left on display next to the ink-stained platform.
