Miami Beach Stroll
Miami, FL
December 29, 2006
Starting on 9th Ave. in the Art Deco district of South Beach, Florida, this hike took place almost entirely along shoreline and headed north towards Fort Lauderdale. The majority of the hike was done barefoot, with frequent stops that included swimming in the ocean, buying a hat at a CVS, eating lunch at a restaurant, and sitting to rest at various points along the beach. Because of the layout of the hotel and resort areas, only a few entry points to and from the city were available along the length of the beach. The hike continued through nightfall, around 6:30 p.m., ending where the beach ended at a research facility near Lake Mabel. An employee of the lab generously drove the artist to the train station to catch the next train to Boca Raton.
