Go West
Chicago, IL
December 22, 2007
This early-winter hike began at Millenium Park in downtown Chicago and headed directly west on Washington St. The artist's friend, who lives in Oak Park on the same street, offered her home as the destination. Although the suburb is immediately west of the city, the hike entailed passing through the width of the city from east to west, a distance of approximately nine miles. A one-strap shoulder bag was used to carry a water bottle and a sketchbook. The trip began at 7:30 a.m. and passed through the Chicago Loop, Near West Side, Garfield Park, and Austin neighborhoods and ended at 10:30 a.m.
